Myth & Truth

Dear Doctor, My name is N.K.Kups,working in Gasco, Abu Dhabi for last 7 years. I am diagnosed with Liver cirrhosis and reduced Blood Platelets problem for the last 5 years but recently during the Periodical medical check by my company, my Medical fitness is being questioned due to this issue. Actually.I have no physical issues as such. The details of the problem is mentioned below. 2006 November, I got blood vomiting in Oman - EVL Banding done and got treatment at Royal Oman Hospital,Muscat. Root cause is unknown ( I met with a car accident in 2005 - this may be the reason?) 2006 - 2016 Taking INDERAL(propranolol) 40 mg twice a day and yearly Endoscopy banding is done. Now Platelet count is gradually reducing from 129000 to 58000 in 6 years (normal range is 150000 - 450000) I have no problem other than small heart burning sensation, but the company medical test they say I am unfit to work due to low platelet count and will lead to bleeding. So I request you to review my case for treating and improving my medical condition. Presently I have requested for 2 months of medical leave without pay and I wish to stay in India and complete my treatment in one course. I am planning to visit India by next week, based on your advise I would like to meet you as per your convenience. Thanking you. N.K.Kups --By Kups

Your health should be your prime concern. The modern medicine does not know about the liver at all; and, it is their medicine propranolol had affected and had made your liver functionless. First, stop all your medicines and believe in God, the Almighty. Only now the blood cells will start reaching to normal levels. I will see you in my clinic. May God Bless.

Latest Myth & Truth
Dear Dr Rahman, I am Sundar, Male 51 years, residing at Bangaliore. Ihappen to be a diabeticfor 13 years (poor control!) with a bit of BP and cholestrol. About 2 months back i had a viral infection with joints pain all over my body. The fever went away in a few days, but the joints pain continued. I was told by my GP that this would gradually go away in a few weeks/months. Took some ayurvedic supplements (suggested by the same allopath GP) Ten days later, the joints pain subsided, but my hands and feet became numb, with pricking pain. The GP attributed this to the viral infection and advised to take mecobalamin(B12) tablets/injection, and continued with more ayurvedic supplements.(Dhanavantri & Bruhat chintamani) Meanwhile i met a neurologist for a second assessment, and went through a 'motor nerve conduction test" and was diagnosed as: 1. predominantly motor polyneuroradiculopathy (mixed type) affecting lower and upper limb nerves 2. severe bilateral median neuropathy at the level of wrist consistent with bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome The neurologist said this was mostly due to the viral infection, but could be because of poor diabetes control(fast:190, PP:300) also. he added that there was no cure, and that the body would have to heal on its own. My numbness and pain has not subsided, am now trying homeopathy for a week for a cure. would request your assessment and advice, shall be able to come to Chennai for a personal consultation Thanks and have a good day! cordially, Sundar Ramanujam --By Sundar Ramanujam
